The Music Department was delighted to welcome Philip Mackenzie, Musical Director of the Amadeus Orchestra, along with five professional musicians, for a workshop with our GCSE and A Level Music students.
Students observed an open rehearsal of two contrasting wind quintets by Mozart and Poulenc. The session offered a rare insight into how professional musicians prepare for performance—exploring rehearsal techniques, ensemble communication, and musical interpretation.
Several KLB students were invited to join the group and play alongside the visitors, who brought a warm, encouraging presence throughout the day.
We are grateful to Philip and his team for bringing the curriculum to life and supporting our students in becoming aspirational learners.
