Carol Concert 2025

KLBMusic

St Mary’s church in Wotton under Edge welcomed over 80 KLB students on Tuesday for our annual candle-lit Carol Concert. Students in Junior Voices, Senior Voices, and KLB Orchestra have been working tirelessly with staff since September to prepare carols and songs, both traditional and contemporary, spanning 500 years of Christmas music.

The concert began in candle light with Senior Voices at the back of the church to sing Ding Dong Merrily on High in stunning four-part harmony. Sebastian in year 7 then filled the church with a beautiful solo verse of Once In Royal David’s City. Later in the programme, Senior Voices sang the 16th Century carol Gaudete ‘a cappella’, with soloists Fin in year 9 and Imogen, year 12, singing the solo verses. KLB Orchestra tackled Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite with delicacy and charm, and accompanied the choirs singing Little Town by Cliff Richard and Christmas Lights by Coldplay. The whole church came together to sing the congregational hymns with warmth and spirit.

Bible readings weaved the story of Christmas through the programme; well done to Arabella (year 7), Ralph (year 8), Oliver (year 9), Suzie (year 10), and Tammy (year 12) for their captivating readings.

Thank you to Revd Lesley Hewish and all the staff at St Mary’s Church, and to KLB Friends for providing festiverefreshments before the concert.
