The Greenpower car club arrived at Castle Combe early morning on Sunday, 2nd June, to race the department’s car against entries from many other schools. The weather was incredibly kind to us, and by 8am, the car was facing its first-ever scrutineering to allow us to race. The car successfully passed all criteria, which was a great relief for all. The KLB team comprised drivers and pit crew from different year groups, and they worked brilliantly as a team. All students performed their roles very well to be ready for their first race. The day proved to be a fantastic success, with all students and parents really enjoying the race day experience.
We are hopeful that we will be able to complete further testing at the Castle Combe track on Monday, 8th July, with an ever-growing team base, as new students are joining weekly. The Greenpower car club meets every Tuesday from 2:45 to 4pm in D3 and welcomes new crew members.
I would like to thank Helena Sadler from the Science Department for supporting the team on race day and all the parents who arrived trackside to watch the day unfold. We hope to be back again next year to improve on our current standing.
