KLB School celebrated three fabulous performances of their production of Les Misérables School Edition. This ambitious project had been six months in the making with casting taking place towards the end of the last academic year ready for a rigorous rehearsal programme through the autumn term and beyond. It was a truly inclusive venture bringing together over one hundred students from years 8 – 13 who brought with them a variety of skills, whether singing, acting, instrumental or technical.
As the show nights approached, the dedicated team of staff gave generously of their time during evenings and weekends to perfect performances, choreography and technical elements to ensure the production would come together seamlessly. And it did! Three flawless nights left the audiences in awe of the sheer talent and commitment of all those involved, with barely a dry eye in the house by the closing number. The production was a fitting and memorable way to open the school’s new Berkeley Theatre. This show will live in our memories for years to come.
Hannah Khan, Headteacher, commented: “What a triumph! Without doubt, this was the most impressive production put on by the school to date. The 100 strong company excelled in every aspect, from casting to set design, quality of sound and lighting to acting and musical proficiency. These truly inspirational performances reflected so many of our school’s values and the impeccable teamwork that brought the whole show together cannot be overstated.
“Thank you to the staff who had the courage to choose such a challenging production and who nurtured the students throughout rehearsals and preparation. Their guidance enabled every student to perform with confidence and pride, and to be part of something they will remember for many years.”
