Lunar New Year Celebrations 2026

KLB

This week, students across the school took part in a range of cultural activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse, kindly supported by Confucius Classroom (CC) funds.

Students experienced a live theatre production of Ballad of Mulan in the Berkeley Theatre, followed by an engaging question-and-answer session with the production team.

Alongside this, students explored Chinese traditions through a traditional tea ceremony, learning about different varieties of tea and key aspects of tea culture. They also practised Chinese calligraphy by writing the character “福” (happiness and good fortune) and created their own Peking opera face masks. We were also pleased to welcome some of our feeder primary school students to take part in these activities.

Over the next two weeks, students will continue the celebrations by making and sampling traditional Chinese New Year dumplings in lessons. Families who would like to try this at home can follow the recipe video here:

We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Lunar New Year.
