National Super 6s Indoor Hockey Success

Friday 14th January 2022 will be a day to remember for our U16 boy’s indoor hockey squad after they finished with a deserving silver medal at England Hockey Super 6’s National Finals at Whitgift School. The group have had a testing run to the National Finals, overcoming Dean Close School in the County round as well as Bristol Grammar School and Millfield School in the Regional Championships. The group represented the school, Gloucestershire and the West superbly well at a highly competitive National Finals Championship.

(The squad dedicated their performance to B.Pullin who sadly had to withdraw from the National Finals)

The squad made the journey to London on the night before the event, becoming the first residential trip to take place since the current pandemic started. Excitement was high on the day of the tournament as the squad looked forward to competing with some of the finest hockey schools in the country. Their results on the day were nothing short of outstanding, it certainly made a lot of people stand up and take note;

Pool Games
KLB 2-0 King Edwards VI
KLB 5-3 Altrincham Grammar
KLB 2-2 Yarm

Semi Finals
KLB 3-0 St George’s

KLB 0-3 Whitgift

We have no doubt their success will be an inspirational platform for other students to replicate in the years to come. Having had so much disruption to their school hockey over the past couple of years it seemed fitting that this wonderful cohort produced such a display. We now turn our attention to their outdoor hockey competitions.
