On Monday afternoon Susanna Hartley, Evie Copley and Mary Little of Year 9, represented the Design Technology Department in the Gloucestershire Junior Chef of the Year competition at Gloucestershire College, Cheltenham. The girls demonstrated their culinary skills and expertise and had a very enjoyable and enriching afternoon.
Susanna beat off tough competition from Stroud High, Farmors & Maidenhill schools to win the overall prize with her dish of locally sourced lamb with mint sauce, duchess potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables.
As part of her prize Susanna will train alongside Chef Gus Ashenford, chef and proprietor of Cheltenhams Restaurant 5 before representing Gloucestershire in the South West Junior chef final in Devon this October.
Evie and Mary were also congratulated on their excellent dishes of Potatas Bravas with stilton and mango chutney stuffed chicken wrapped in pancetta with a side of spinach and Marys Thai curry and naan bread.
Well done and congratulations to the three girls and Sarah Dring their teacher.
