Congratulations to the Year 7 rugby team who have made an excellent start to the season by winning the District Festival on Saturday 14th October. Prior to the festival, they had beaten Archway and Farmors and therefore went into the competition with confidence.
They competed in 3 pool matches, beating Archway (20-5), Cirencester Kingshill (25-0) and Thomas Keble (25-0). The team then played in 2 seeded games, beating Rednock (15-0) followed by Marling (15-0). Considering the team have only played together for less than a term, they played fantastic rugby in such a good spirit and represented KLB school superbly throughout the festival. KLB won all 5 games, scored 100 points and conceded just 1 try in the festival. This is a fantastic achievement and all players involved should be very proud.
In addition to this success, KLB were only one of three schools who fielded a B team within the festival. The team, predominantly made up of players new to playing rugby, won all but one game and qualified for the ‘bowl’ final. The team finished runners up, which was also a marvellous achievement considering they competed against an A teams from other schools.
Special mention goes to both Jake Edwards and Jasper McGrellis who were chosen by team coaches as KLB players of the festival.
