We are delighted that The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2025 has once again placed Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School third among all comprehensive secondary schools in the South West of England. The school has high expectations of all students and celebrates their academic progress and achievement. We balance this with a tailored pastoral approach that ensures all students have opportunities to develop and succeed in a supportive environment. Our Proud To Be… message, which permeates all aspects of our planning and development, is deeply rooted in the school culture.
Our superb GCSE and A level results last summer are testament to the dedication and determination of students and staff alike. Excellent teaching and a positive working environment inspire students to be ambitious in their outlook: Our sixth form students moved on to aspirational courses at university or to quality higher apprenticeships, or other pathways of their choosing. The number of year 11 students who achieve grade 5s continues to climb year on year, opening a choice of pathways including a wide range of A level options at KLB Sixth Form.
Embedded in the school’s vision and values is our strong sense of community. Outstanding pastoral provision underpins a kind and caring environment in which students encourage, support one another, so that all children feel secure, happy, and can thrive. Students have access to a wealth of exciting experiences and opportunities beyond the classroom including clubs and societies, ambassador programmes, and trips and activities, both in the UK and abroad, to support their learning and personal development.
Hannah Khan, Headteacher, commented: “At KLB, our students are our best ambassadors. They are proud to be members of this school community. We celebrate them not only for their academic progress and achievements but also for their embodiment of the school’s values of mutual respect, courage, humility, resilience, inclusion and integrity.”
