Student Absence and Attendance

At Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, we expect students to attend every day that the school is open unless a reason acceptable to the school is given and we are able to authorise the absence. We expect all students to aspire to a minimum of 96% attendance. Every lesson counts and it is this commitment to learning that will have a positive effect on students’ examinations and their futures.

If your child will be absent from school or you need to report an illness, would you please let us know either by telephoning the school number or sending an email. If you know that the absence will be for more than one day, please let us know the expected length of absence when you contact us. If the absence is only known on a day to day basis, please contact us at the start of each day of absence.

If you call the school number (01453 842227) when the receptionist is not on duty, you will be able to leave a voicemail message to let us know that your child will be absent from school.

Alternatively, you can send an email to attendance@klbschool.org.uk. Please include your child’s name, their year group and, if possible, their tutor group.
If a student is absent from school and we have not been notified, we will make all reasonable efforts to call the student’s parent/carer to confirm the reason.

If you wish to apply for leave of absence for your child in term time, please complete the appropriate form available by clicking the relevant link below.
