Remembrance Day 2021

KLB

On Thursday 11th November, the whole school community came together and joined the rest of the country in remembering those who have fallen in war.

As is now tradition, the entire school community came together in a moving and fitting act of remembrance. Our Head Boy (Tom Werrett) and Head Girl (Ari Stamatopolous) walked with the school’s wreath from reception to the open area outside the Renishaw building where other students and staff gathered to observe two minutes silence. Oscar Braun and Amy Gribben in Year 13 beautifully read out ‘The Exhortation’ and ‘The Epitaph’. Geoffrey Harper, also in Year 13, played the Last Post. This was a moving ceremony and it was clear that, without exception, the students understood the importance of respecting the memory of those who have fought for their country and lost their lives in past conflicts.

The event was streamed live to classrooms away from the centre of school. The picture quality has reduced signifcantly since downloading, but is available to watch below.

On Sunday, Ari (Head Girl), Tom (Head Boy) and Jamie (Deputy Head Boy), joined Miss Khan to represent the school at the parade in Wotton.
