Carnival Fever comes to KLB School

KLB

In celebration of the year’s Proud to Be events, the school’s Diversity and Sixth Form Charity committees, along with a dedicated group of helpers and supporters, made sure the term ended in style with the first ever KLB Carnival.

The day started with a procession of floats through the school, accompanied by the fabulous samba band. The field became a hub for stalls, games and activities, including bouncy slide, inflatable disco, soak the teacher, face painting, tombola, headdress workshops and trailer rides to name but a few. These were either low cost or completely free so that everyone could take part.

Some enterprising students set up their own stalls selling items they had made while others performed on the music stage in a battle of the bands competition. A few brave teachers volunteered to get soaked in the stocks.

Fortunately, the sun shone throughout the day, and students from all year groups took part in the fun and enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere.

Any profits made on the day will go towards supporting local charities and in-school diversity events.

Head teacher, Hannah Khan commented: “The carnival was a truly fitting finale to an incredibly positive year for KLB. It demonstrated all that is good about our school community and embodied many of our core values in action. We are so proud of our young people who work hard but also know how to have fun and create an inspiring and nurturing environment that includes and respects everyone.

“We plan to make the KLB Carnival an annual event and hold it on a Saturday next year so that we can invite the wider community to join us. We look forward to welcoming all to an even bigger, bolder and brighter event in summer 2024.”
