Sixth Form Fundraising for Macmillan 2023

KLBSixth Form

The inaugural fundraising event by this year’s sixth form charity team took place on Wednesday 22 November. Students and staff enjoyed a range of treats cooked by KLB sixth form students and teachers, including delicious cakes and hot drinks.

The sale took place during break and period 3 and was a huge success – the charity team raised a total of £241! This generous sum will go towards MacMillan, supporting their mission to provide care for those battling cancer.

This event came on a day when the sixth form and other members of the school community engaged in sessions to raise cancer awareness. While the male sixth form students attended an Oddballs talk, Mrs Gallivan generously shared her own experience in a talk to year 12 and 13 female students about breast cancer. Full of helpful information and inspiring messages, the focus of her talk was a positive message about the importance of checking breasts to ensure early detection. She directed us to helpful resources and organisations to promote awareness including the excellent ‘knowyourlemons.com’, pictured below.
