The music department held its annual summer concert on 22 June, and what an evening it turned out to be! After months of hard work and meticulous rehearsals, the jazz band, orchestra, choir, chamber choir, samba band, ukulele group and string orchestra performed new repertoire. Pieces featured on the programme included Holst’s St Paul’s Suite and Jupiter from The Planets, Take On Me by A-Ha, One Day More from Les Mis, Dear Evan Hansen’s You Will Be Found, and Uptown Funk. Larger ensemble performances were accompanied by jaw-dropping solos from students across the age range.

The Drama Hall was brimming with proud parents – a wonderful evening celebrating the talent at KLB. The number of students taking up instrumental lessons and participating in extra-curricular clubs took a nosedive following the pandemic, a problem shared by many schools. We are therefore especially delighted that last week’s concert saw all ensembles back to full strength. We look forward to what 2024 has in store for KLB’s musicians!
