U16 T3 National Championships Runners Up 2022

Sport

The feel good factor currently surrounding boys hockey continues, after our U16 boys squad finished runners up in the Tier 3 National Championship at the Nottingham Hockey Centre. The early morning meet failed to dampen the excitement of the squad who were looking forward to competition with some very distinguished schools. First up, Eton College who can boast a particular alumni such as Boris Johnson. KLB came flying out of the starting blocks to produce a clinical performance to take an opening victory. A quick start in tournaments of this format is crucial for building momentum, this was proven to be exactly correct in game two against Bancrofts School. The rigid defensive structure wasn’t quite a match for the fluid attacks produced by the KLB squad. Game three and an opportunity to clinch top spot in the pool. Standing in the way was Nottingham High School, the KLB boys producing a flawless display to take the game and top spot in the pool, sealing their place in the final against Yarm School. The last time KLB locked horns with Yarm was during the successful U16 National Indoor Championships. Sadly, the result was not to be repeated, Yarm can out in the opening 10 minutes of the game in emphatic style to take a commanding lead. Despite a brave and resilient come back from our boys, Yarm stood strong to hold onto their lead and take the Championship.
