Feel Good Fortnight

KLB

The end of term 3 saw the school take part in Feel-Good Fortnight; this was an opportunity to share and celebrate all that is good, healthy and positive in our community and to invite everyone to take part. The tutor sessions throughout the fortnight focused on this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week campaign, Let’s Connect, which is about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing.

Throughout the fortnight we had lots of feel-good activities taking place, from music in the canteen, to Fairtrade chocolate being sold along with messages of support from friends; we also had Taskmaster challenges taking place within departments to spread a bit of additional cheer. On the first Friday of the fortnight we held Funny Feet Friday and the second Friday saw us all Dress to Express – these were great days and some of the footwear and costumes were fantastic! We raised over £960 which will be shared amongst local (Tic+ and Young Gloucestershire) and national (Place2Be) mental health charities to support the excellent work they do.

The end of the fortnight saw us take part in the Feel-Good finale: each year group had a session off their normal timetable and the students were able to take part in a feelgood activity. These ranged from African dancing and drumming to yoga.
Supporting Children’s mental health is not only important during these weeks, it is always at the forefront of our minds. If you or your child would like any additional support or guidance, please look at our student wellbeing page on the School website for information and signposting: https://klbschool.org.uk/student-wellbeing/.
