NSEA National Show-Jumping Championships at Hickstead 2021

Sport

On 23rd – 24th August, four KLB riders travelled to the prestige Hickstead showground to compete in the NSEA Show-Jumping Championships, where schools from all over the country were attending.

On the Monday morning, Harvey Barfoot-Saunt competed in the 70cm Silverfeet Championships and started the day off with a speedy clear to finish 6th in a very competitive class.
The KLB team, consisting of Winnie Read, Harvey, Lily Clarke and Grace Clarke, competed in the 80cm National Show- Jumping Championships. The team rode very well in another highly competitive class, finishing in 2nd place. In addition, Harvey rode as an individual and was placed 3rd. Later in the day, the team competed in the 80cm Oliver Bonas County Show Jumping Finals, riding well over a twisty and technical course, but unfortunately just missing out on the placings.

It was an early start on the Tuesday morning for the four-team members, who were competing in the 90cm Oliver Bonas County Show Jumping Championships. We were first to go in this large class and all rode very well over a tough, full-up course. It was a big class and the team finished fourth together with Harvey having one of the fastest times in the class by 5 seconds.

Thank you to our reserve rider, Winnie Read, for stepping in last minute to compete at the Championships as Katherine Lay’s pony became lame in the run up to the show.
