Our riders waited with baited breaths earlier this month for the team results of the NSEA Dressage competition on the official NSEA website. Our teams did amazing well, placing an astonishing second place and twenty-fifth out of fifty-two entries. The KLB Maroon team, who came second, consisted of Grace Clarke, Lily Clarke, Megan Snow and Katherine Lay, have now qualified for both NSEA Championship Festival at Hickstead and the National Schools Championships at Addington Manor later this year. Congratulations to both Grace Clarke, placed third in her group and Rachel Turnbull, placed fourth in her Group qualifying as individuals for the Prelim Dressage class for Hickstead and Addington Manor.
Special mention to Lily Clarke and Megan Snow, who both narrowly missed qualification for the championships, coming fifth in their groups, but qualifying for the Championship Plate at Keysoe in November. Also a great first team outing for Maddy Hall-Smith featuring in our KLB Navy team.
Harvey Barfoot-Saunt competed for the school riding Diablo in the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) 70cm, 80cm and 90cm show-jumping qualifier during the Easter holidays at Bicton Arena, Devon, featured in the photo on the right.
Harvey and Diablo have consistently performed well for the school in NSEA competitions in the past. I am pleased to say the combination’s form held at Bicton, coming second in the 70cm class and first in the 80cm class; so qualifying for the NSEA National Schools Championships at Addington Manor in October 2021 in both classes. A fantastic achievement. The pair was unlucky at 90cm, picking up one fault and narrowly missing out on qualification at this height.
Future competitions include a further Dressage qualifier this month, followed by a Show Jumping with style competition at West Wilts in early June and Show-jumping event at Hartpury International Arena on the 12th June.
